Composer finds champion in S.F.
Clearly, the Santa Fe Opera views the Finnish-born Kaija Saariaho as one of the major contemporary composers of opera. Following on SFO's 2002 premiere of "L'Amour de loin," on Saturday, July 26, it will give the American premiere of her second opera, "Adriana Mater." SFO's history includes few repeat composer turns, and certainly none for a female composer, a breed notably scarce at SFO.   (Wednesday, August 20, 2008)
